EquiChek
Rapid test for the detection of SAA in equine blood
EquiChek is an immunochromatographic test for the detection of Serum Amyloid Protein A (SAA) in equine blood.
The use of acute phase proteins for the evaluation of the health of the horse is well documented. Among these proteins, serum amyloid A (SAA) is a protein present at very low levels when the animal is in normal health conditions, but, within a few hours of the onset of any pathogenic event, it can increase up to 100-1000 times over the normal value.
The increase in SAA during an inflammatory response is significant, high and rapid.
After the drug treatment its level decreases rapidly returning to normal values.
EquiChek™-SAA is a valid diagnostic support fo verifying the general state of health of animals. A high level of SAA indicates the presence of an undetermined pathology or clinically significant inflammation.
Determining the SAA level is useful in these situations:
- To confirm the presence of an inflammatory process,
- To identify subclinical inflammation in case of illness and pathologies,
- To determine the possible presence of an infection,
- To monitor the therapeutic course in real time,
- Early marker to speed up the use of more specific diagnostic tests.
